Are you feeling overwhelmed and anxious, or sad and wanting something to change but are feeling stuck? The hardest part is continuing on when you don’t feel you have a safe place to work through these emotions. Truth is that sharing our stories with an empathetic counselor can help to relieve stress, bring about a sense of clarity, and allow a renewed sense of purpose to emerge.
Hi, my name is Kim England, MA, AT and I am a Mental Health Counselor and Art Therapist who recently opened a private practice in Redmond, WA and I am accepting new clients.
My specialties include the treatment of: Stress, Anxiety and Depression, Relationship Conflict, Self-Esteem, Health Challenges, Mood Disorders, the Loss of a Loved One, and Life Transitions.
The methods I use in counseling take into account important aspects of our physical, psychological, and social health. Art Therapy is integrated into the process of counseling as a non-verbal insight component to the experience of wellness and problem solving.
Frequent Questions and Statements: “What is Art Therapy?” or “I can’t draw!”
Art is not always used in counseling sessions, but there are times when it can be integrated for therapeutic benefit to the client. Many adults feel intimidated by the word “Art,” having been creatively stifled as children. Art Therapy can help adults regain a sense of childlike adventure. If you can use a pencil or a crayon and can make simple stick figures, you can visually represent concepts that can inform your life just as significantly as the words you might use to express your story.
